KITTEN AND CAT HEALTH CARE
When you get a new kitten, you need to ensure that it stays healthy for many years to come. To keep your kitten healthy, you should make an appointment to vaccinate your pet against common feline diseases. Vaccinations for cats typically begin at six weeks of age and should not be delayed more than 12 weeks. Yearly checkups and vaccinations are also recommended by our office.
Your cat should be vaccinated against feline distemper. The distemper vaccine is usually given in two doses, three to four weeks apart. Kittens as young as six weeks can receive the distemper vaccine.
The vaccine FVRC, which protects against common upper respiratory infections that occur in cats, is given. This is also given in two doses, three to four weeks apart.
The rabies vaccine is given after 12 weeks of age. Kittens are eligible to receive the vaccination for rabies when they are older than three months.
Find out about optional vaccines for kittens. Other vaccines manufactured for kittens include the Feline Leukemia virus and the Feline Immunodeficiency virus. We use non-adjubented vaccines when available.
PUPPY AND DOG HEALTH CARE
As a dog owner, it is your responsibility to ensure your dog's safety and health. A healthy dog is a happy dog. Getting your dog immunized is one of the best ways you can keep your beloved pet healthy. Many new dog owners, though, are unaware of the importance of having their dogs immunized.
Dogs need to be immunized to protect them from acquiring various canine diseases. Immunization helps your dog's immune system fight a host of diseases. What is actually injected into your dog are antibodies, which the immune system fights off and "stores" in its memory so that should those antibodies ever try to invade the dog's body again, the immune system is already equipped to fight them.
Your dog should also be on a monthly regiment to protect him from heart worms, ticks and fleas. Our office will be glad to assist you in providing the proper treatment.
Yearly checkups and booster and rabies shots are necessary for the health of your dog also.
We also provide complete care of a sick or injured puppy or dog.
